Hydrovac - Pre-installation Instructions

You have purchased a remanufactured unit. Give it a chance to do its job. Before installing, you must perform the following maintenance to insure proper life and performance.

Rebuild or Replace Master Cylinder
If this is not done, drain and flush master cylinder and hydraulic line of old fluid.
Using hydraulic brake fluid only (do not use solvent for this operation).

Disconnect Vacuum Hose
From engine intake manifold and inspect hose for collapsed inner wall and fitting for _carbon build up.
This step is very important as it insures that the booster receives adequate supply
_of vacuum.
Replace hose and clean fitting and manifold as needed.
Test vacuum check valve by starting engine while manifold vacuum hose is _connected to the check valve and the hose to booster is disconnected.
Place vacuum gauge on booster side and shut engine off.
Vacuum should remain for 30 seconds.
Replace check valve if it fails this test with our CV-1 check valve kit or equivalent.
Warranty requests will be refused if gas or oil is in unit (see trouble shooting guide).

Air Cleaner
Clean air cleaner by blowing out with compressed air or remove it and
_wash it with solvent.
Dry completely before reinstalling.
Inspect air cleaner hose for deterioration. Replace as necessary,.
The air cleaner causes more failures to the booster than any other single factor
_by letting dirt and water enter the unit.

Install Booster
Connect all lines making sure all fittings are clean.
Bleed hydraulic system using a pressure bleeder.
Do not run engine while bleeding hydraulic system. (See "Bleeding Procedures")

Start Engine
Check brakes for proper operation.
