Installation Instructions
for: Bendix Hydroboost & Hydromax Delco Hypower and Dual
Power
This procedure
does not include instructions for bleeding the brake system.
The Hydroboost, Hydro-max, Hypower and Dual Power hydraulic section
use power steering fluid. The brake system uses hydraulic brake
fluid. Do not mix the two systems.
1. |
Fill power steering
pump reservoir with power steering fluid. |
2. |
Start engine and
run for approximately two seconds. Check fluid level; add as
required. |
3. |
Repeat step 2 until
fluid retains constant level. |
4. |
Raise front of vehicle
to clear tires. Run engine at 1000 to 15000 rpm. Depress brake
pedal several times. Turn steering right and left, lightly contacting
wheel stops. |
5. |
Turn engine off;
recheck reservoir fluid level. Add if needed. |
6. |
Lower vehicle and
repeat steps 4 and 5. |
7. |
If pedal is up and
firm, road test vehicle. |
8. |
If reservoir fluid
is extremely foamy, let vehicle stand with engine off for one
hour, then recheck. |
